The safest way to use it in my opinion is to have everythign set on the friends setting (or private, I guess), and only be "friends" on myspace with people she/you geniuenly know and trust. I get friend requests from random people now and then, nothing to it but to hit 'deny', and then you don't have to deal with it : ) That's just me, though.
