What is the deal with myspaces?
No it is not totally safe. Some kids have been lured by older men and a few have even been murdered by people they met in there. I would say its ok to have a myspace if she lets YOU have her password and you keep tabs on who she meets and talks to and also if she keeps it set to private. As a parent if your going to let her have a myspace you should monitor it.
What is the deal with myspaces?
it is not a very safe place it just depends on what you put on there if you put i have a game tonight at this school in this gym and i am this number you are just asking to get kidnapped or raped you just have to know what to put and what not to put Report It
What is the deal with myspaces?
If you set the account to private, only the friends she adds can see her profile. It is safe that way, I have had one for a year, and I love it. It is a good way to keep in contact with friends. If she chooses not to set it to private, all you have to do is not put private info on the page. Have fun!
What is the deal with myspaces?
Myspace is just a place where friends can talk to each other. It's not harmful unless they start meeting random people online. But most people don't do that.
A safe way to be safe on myspace is get your own as a parent. Then you can friend with your daughter and check whatever is on her myspace. It wouldn't be count as spying because you are technically her 'friend'.
What is the deal with myspaces?
its only safe if she makes her profile private, only talks to people she already knows, and doesnt put too much info about herself.
it was on the news not long ago about all of the sexual predators that were on myspace and they deleted their profiles.
What is the deal with myspaces?
It's safe as long as she's not talking to people that she doesn't know. Alot of people just add friends to their list just so they'll have alot of friends, like a popularity contest.
What is the deal with myspaces?
it's only not safe if you start posting things like, where you live, where you work, your last name, your SSN, your phone number, where you go to school, things that make up your identity and if you post your itenrary, then that's when it's dangerous
you can make it private if you want and only people who know you can be your friend
What is the deal with myspaces?
Hello mother, it's totallly safe... don't be scared. I'm sixteen and it's not scary. Tell you daughter to put her myspace on private.. that's when only her friends get to check it. It's totally safe.. tell your daughter to not talk to strangers on myspace. theres alot of pervs
What is the deal with myspaces?
you know as a parent It's our responsibility to maintain a safe environment for our kids. I have a 15 yo daughter that has a MySpace and I let her know that I'm watching, you know, checks and balances. I know who she's "friends" with and get a feel of the kind of topics she shares with friends. It's safe, but only if we make it so. Hope that helps.
What is the deal with myspaces?
Yes Myspace is very safe... if she keeps her profile on private and only accepts add form ppl that she knows! =]
so no one will be able to see her page or pics or any info only friends and people she actually trusts
What is the deal with myspaces?
It all depends on how she uses it. I'm 23 and I have one to connect to my friends. I don't use to to find random people to talk to. If all your daughter is doing is talking to her friends from school then I think it's completely safe. You should just warn her not to start talking to random people, as there are new studies showing that sexual predators are showing up on MySpace.
What is the deal with myspaces?
I am not totally sure why everyone is so crazy about myspace. But I have a myspace page and I use it on a pretty regular basis. I think that it is just about as safe as any other chat room on the internet. The things that are cool about it for young kids is that you can set it where only people who know them can email them or chat with them.
I know I wouldnt let my 7 year old mess with myspace. But a teenager would be alright. But like I said, there are still creeps on myspace just like other chat rooms.
What is the deal with myspaces?
Myspace is not safe. She is very naive if she thinks it is!! Predators are all over the internet--especially myspace.com because it is so popular...Perhaps you should hand her print outs of news articles that report deaths linked to myspace. They even had a deathspace.com (of all the fallen myspacers).
What is the deal with myspaces?
Myspace come on its just as safe as this is, but if myspace is yourspace and yourspace is myspace is it even really myspace.
www.myspace.com/3rdneb oh yea Tom is a cool guy to
What is the deal with myspaces?
OK people say that sexual predators can get your daughter by looking at her myspace but in fact all u have to do is make sure her myspace is set on private and only her friends can see it so far no one in the world has ever been hurt by myspace and its been out for 3 years i think its pretty safe its what is cool now of days so dont stress your daughter is fine just ask her if her myspace is on private and if its not tell her to put it on private hope i could help =)
What is the deal with myspaces?
It depends on the security settings your daughter has set up. Your daughter can control whether or not her profile, pictures, blogs, etc... are public, private, or friends only access. The safest way to use it in my opinion is to have everythign set on the friends setting (or private, I guess), and only be "friends" on myspace with people she/you geniuenly know and trust. I get friend requests from random people now and then, nothing to it but to hit 'deny', and then you don't have to deal with it : ) That's just me, though.
And obviously it'd be good not to put up one's address, phone number, etc...someone you/she are familiar with would probably already know that information anyway, so there is no point in posting it online. Just use your best judgement. There's also a FAQ about that sort of thing on their website.
What is the deal with myspaces?
its not totally safe unless you set it to private and are really careful about who you talk to and not to meet up with random people. a friend of my friends was talking to random people and decided to meet up with a random person that said he was her age but he wasnt and she got raped. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the deal with myspaces?
It can be completely safe as long as your daughter isn't stupid. People blame myspace for the rapes and murders and kidnappings and whatever but it's the fault of the dumb girls.
As long as you aren't talking to people you don't know, and giving out personal information and making plans to meet strangers then it is perfectly safe. People just need to use common sense.
What is the deal with myspaces?
Well, it depends on your daughter and what she use it for. I am a teenager and I have a myspace. See, what I do with myspace is comment on my friends photos and write them a little comment once in a while. I also, ONLY add people that I know. I will not add someone randomly and definitely will NOT meet that person. Also, I set my profile to private so that ONLY my friends will be able to view; any one else is a no-no until I add that person. If your daughter is like its PERFECTLY safe, but if shes the opposite then yes, it can be quite dangerous.
What is the deal with myspaces?
its perfectly safe if your daughter isnt stupid with it. make it clear that she should only have friends that she knows %26amp; not to accept messages from creeps. :]
What is the deal with myspaces?
well if you set it up in private and set it up in a safe way, well then it could be safe only her friends could see it.
What is the deal with myspaces?
i have myspace and i know someone who is very knowledgeable with computers and i can say that nothing is completely safe on the net. you have to make sure that you know what pictures your daughter is posting, make it your responsibility to know who she's communicating with online. have her change her password now and then, her profile should be private and there's an option in security settings where the person trying to add has to know her last name or email. make sure she doesn't post any personal information about herself such as school, address, stuff like that because someone can hack into one of her friend's profile and get ahold of your daughter's info. like i said, nothing is completely safe.
in the long run, if someone wants to get info on anyone, they'll find a way to get it. there are predators lurking around and we never know they're there.
What is the deal with myspaces?
I have a myspace and the reason we 'teenage' kids like it is because he can keep in contact with ALL of our friends. It's actually pretty cool if you were a member, you'd understand. As for it NOT being safe, that's exactly what my mom told me. But my brother and i have it, and nothing bad has happened. We set our profiles to private.
